About UVB Phototherapy
Narrowband UVB phototherapy uses a specific wavelength of ultraviolet light (around 311 nm) that has been widely used in clinical dermatology settings for many years.
In both hospital and home settings, UVB phototherapy is typically delivered in short, controlled exposure sessions, adjusted gradually over time based on individual tolerance.

Using UVB Phototherapy Units
Hospitals usually start UVB phototherapy at very low exposure levels and increase them slowly over time, depending on how a person’s skin responds.
A slow and cautious approach is important for safe use. Everyone’s skin reacts differently, and increasing exposure too quickly does not provide extra benefit.

UVB Phototherapy vs Sunbeds
While both emit ultraviolet (UV) light, they serve very different purposes.
Sunbeds are designed for cosmetic tanning and primarily emit UVA radiation. They are not engineered for targeted wavelength delivery or controlled therapeutic use.
Narrowband UVB phototherapy units emit a specific wavelength (around 311 nm) commonly used in clinical dermatology settings for conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and vitiligo.
The key difference lies in the wavelength precision, controlled exposure, and intended medical purpose.
